Professor Paula Reavey

Deputy Director

Paula is Deputy Director of our Centre & Professor of Psychology at London South Bank University. Paula’s work explores mental health and memory drawing on process theory and phenomenology. Originally from the Western Isles of Scotland but raised mainly in Southeast England, she has dedicated her career to advancing understandings of memory and lived experiences in context, focussing on materiality, environments & relational dynamics. Paula is co-author of books Psychology, Mental Health & Distress (awarded British Psychological Society (BPS) Book Prize), and Vital Memory & Affect: Living with a Difficult Past. She has (co)edited six academic volumes and ten commercial Design with People in Mind books. A fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences, Paula advises NHS England and the WHO.
