Kialy Tihngang

Doctoral Researcher

I am a multidisciplinary visual artist with a primary focus on artists’ moving image. I draw visual, sonic and thematic cues from Afro-presentism, Nollywood and Hollywood cinema, high fantasy and speculative fiction, to explore Blackness, queerness, Britishness, and the many absurd structural oppressions surrounding these personal themes. For my PhD, I will be using artists’ moving image, and the camera more widely, to autoethnographically research how Cameroonian-British identity is formed and malformed in the wake of multiple geographic uprootings and fractured ritual memories.
